The Nora Jacket is based on the traditional work clothes that once supported the work and livelihoods of people in Japan's farming, forestry and fishing villages, and has been made to suit modern lifestyles.

The fabric is made from Mikawa cotton, which is our hometown, and Mino washi paper from Mino City, Gifu Prefecture is used for the weft. The fabric is woven with air in it, giving it an irregular, three-dimensional feel, and the deep pattern emerges.

White paper thread is combined with pale yellow and pale purple ikat thread, giving a subtle hint of color to the grey color.

The washed fabric is soft to the touch, yet has the firmness of washi paper. The uneven surface prevents the fabric from sticking to the skin, making it comfortable to wear even during the chilly rainy season. The loose width of the garment features large pockets. The inner pocket with snap button prevents items from falling out when putting on or taking off the garment.

We hope that as you think about the wind blowing through the trees and the lush vegetation growing in the fields, you will be able to feel the wisdom and aesthetic sense of our ancestors in the context of your modern life.
